Popcorn Finish.
Heavy-texture popcorn finish — durable, sound-dampening, and ideal for utilitarian ceilings and certain commercial applications.
What it is
Popcorn finish produces a deeply textured surface with built-in sound absorption. We rarely specify it for luxury residential — but when an existing popcorn ceiling has to be matched in a renovation, or when a client wants the texture for acoustic reasons, we apply it cleanly with controlled aggregate.
Our process
From the first site visit to the final coat.
Every project follows a sequence — refined over thirty years and adapted to the substrate, climate, and finish system.
- 01
Substrate seal
Drywall or plaster substrate sealed against absorption.
- 02
Texture application
Heavy-aggregate texture sprayed and back-rolled to consistency.
Common questions
Popcorn Finish — frequently asked.
Do you remove popcorn ceilings?
We do — typically replacing them with a flat or skip-trowel finish. Older popcorn ceilings may contain asbestos and require licensed abatement before our work begins.
